Hunting at Bear Mountain Ranch –

Bear Mountain Ranch is home to hundreds of elk. The magic begins in late spring when hundreds of elk migrate back to the calving grounds on Bear Mountain Ranch. The sixteen square mile ranch, surrounded by national forests, offers excellent habitat for mule deer, pronghorn, elk and an abundance of other species of wildlife. With free range hunting strictly limited, the elk herds are magnificent. The Private Hunting Area is home to impressive trophy bulls and bison. Whether you seek the challenge of an open range stalk hunt or the lifetime satisfaction of a Preserve ambush-style trophy hunt, Bear Mountain Ranch is a unique destination.

Free Range Hunting

Bear Mountain Ranch offers on of the most versatile hunts in Colorado.  We limit our free-range hunts to groups of six.  Grizzly Cabin provides the uniquely rustic gathering place for meals and camaraderie.  Our cook prepares three meals a day.  Guides are provided, two hunters per guide (one-on-one is available for an additional charge).  Sleeping quarters are well-insulated and heated cabins, two persons to a cabin, with table, chairs, benches, dresser and rugs.  A shower tent is available.

Gary, our guide worked very hard to make sure we had a safe and successful hunt. We have requested him again for next year.       ~ John York

Bear Mountain Ranch Private Hunting Area

While Bear Mountain Ranch is home to hundreds of elk, few (if any) found in the wild are monster trophy bulls. If hunting a true monster trophy animal is your dream, Bear Mountain Ranch offers an incredible experience. Hunting from ground blinds near game trails, it is not uncommon for our hunters to observe three to four trophy or monster trophy bulls in a single day.

You arrive at Bear Mountain Ranch the day before your hunt and settle in at the Arapaho Lodge, which overlooks our rugged Preserve.  Our chef prepares and serves all meals in our private dining room.  As you relax on the upper deck overlooking the Preserve, the echoes of massive bull elk bugling and locking horns is exceptional.  In the dense forest elk thrive in their natural habitat.

No license is required to hunt in the private hunting area.

Hunts in the private area can be physically demanding.

Pricing for Preserve Hunts is determined by SCI score of the bull, ranging 350 to over 450.  Call the Bear Mountain Ranch Preserve home.  (970) 724-9651
